He is one of 9, NTU graduates who will emerge from nearly two years of unconventional academic life, into a working world vastly different from when they first entered university. This is the second in-person convocation ceremony held by NTU amid the Covid pandemic, after a delayed event was conducted for the Class of in March. Originally scheduled for July, plans for this ceremony were thrown into limbo when the number of Covid cases rose.

This is awarded to students with general proficiency in their programme and Honours Highest Distinction. This year's convocation ceremonies will be spread over 44 sessions from Friday to Oct 2 - held in-person and streamed online from the Nanyang Auditorium.

This is roughly twice the usual number of ceremonies, to reduce group sizes and lessen the risk of Covid transmission. Up to attendees can be present at a time, and they have to provide proof of vaccination or a negative swab test result in the past day.

Friday's event also marked the start of celebrations for the university's 30th anniversary. Each student is allowed to book an additional two live streaming tickets, as part of the Newton package. The Newton package includes entrance to the live streaming venue, a ceremonial programme and admittance to the post ceremonial refreshments. The venue is Lecture Theatre 2 in the Newton building. Will the ceremonies be live streamed? Yes, all ceremonies will be live streamed to Lecture Theatre 2 in the Newton building, but access to this is by ticket only please see query above.

Alternatively, family members at home can watch the ceremonies online. A link to the broadcast will be available on the graduation pages on the NTU website on the day. Can I bring babies and toddlers? We realise your graduation is a time for family celebrations of your achievements and children are welcome to attend. However, the graduation ceremonies are formal occasions and we do not recommend that babies and young children attend. The production will include moments of darkness and loud music and noise, so if you intend on bringing along younger guests you may want to consider bringing ear defenders.

Unfortunately we cannot supply these. We respectfully request that small children be taken outside if they become unsettled during the ceremony so as not to disturb proceedings. Am I guaranteed the above number of guest tickets, and if so, until when? It is advisable to only make travel and accommodation bookings based on the initial ticket allocation of two tickets, as there is no guarantee of extra tickets being available.

Can you accommodate students and guests with disabilities? Please tell us if you or any of your guests have any special requirements at the time of booking.

This can include: wheelchair accessibility, dietary requirements, vertigo, and any hearing impairments. When will additional guest tickets be released? Where additional guest tickets become available after the deadline date of Friday 20 April, these will be stated on the Graduation website.

What will happen to my guest tickets if I live overseas? Regardless of the venue for your graduation, if you have a permanent address outside of the UK, your guest tickets will be held for collection on the day from the Student Services desk in the Newton building before the ceremony. Make sure you have your student card to collect your tickets. Can I reserve additional tickets online and pay for them later? You cannot reserve additional tickets and pay for them later.

When will I receive my tickets? Ceremonies in the Royal Concert Hall If your ceremony takes place in the Royal Concert Hall, guest tickets will be sent to your permanent home address approximately two weeks prior to the ceremony unless you have requested otherwise at the time of booking. You will be given your student ticket when you arrive at the Royal Concert Hall on the day of your ceremony.

Please bring with you some form of ID. Ceremonies in the University Hall If your ceremony is in the University Hall, you will collect your student ticket, guest tickets and Newton venue tickets on the day of the ceremony. You will be given a time slot and a location where students will register their attendance.

I am an international student — how can I obtain a visa letter for my guests? If you or any of your guests require a visitor visa to enter the UK, you will need to obtain a letter of invitation.

In order to do this, you will need to purchase your guest tickets online first and then complete a form which should be returned to the Academic Registry so we can produce the letters for you. How much are certificate tubes? We advise you to purchase one in advance on the web site when you book your guest tickets. Alternatively, tubes will be available to purchase on the day. Where and when can I collect my tube? If you pre-order a certificate tube online, you will be given a voucher with your guest tickets. Present this at the Student Services desk in Newton on the day and you will be given your tube.

Do I have to wear academic dress? Yes, you will not be allowed to join the ceremony unless wearing full academic dress. Find out more here.
